My third week of daily notes about an exceptional woman surrealist looked at Leonora Carrington, the English artist who spent the majority of her later life in Mexico.
There are so many wonderful pictures to choose from and it was hard to know what to pick. I hope that if this is your introduction to Carrington, it will inspire you to eek out more of her work.
Her biography reads like the plot of a novel and in fact I’ve borrowed some of the dramatic events of her life for my own novel about the woman surrealists: Swimming with Tigers.
